Each proposed origin site has been assigned a status (Confirmed, Likely, or Dubious) expressing our confidence that the site genuinely corresponds to an origin. These assignments and the database represent the culmination of many studies and include data from a large number of research groups. Further information is available on the help page.

OriDB was originally conceived by Dr Conrad A. Nieduszynski whilst a postdoctoral research fellow with Dr Anne D. Donaldson at the University of Aberdeen. Conrad and his research group now at the University of Oxford have continued to maintain and develop OriDB.
